White people, foreigners, natives and the rule of law in the Turks and Caicos Islands

Since the TCI Sun broke the news here that Police were investigating a report that an expatriate man pointed a rifle in the direction of a boat carrying a local family, including young children, on a cruise along the coastline in the Turtle Cove area on Wednesday, July 8th, 2020, many persons in the TCI have been monitoring the situation closely.

The initial news report was followed shortly after by another news story here, that Nineteen-year-old Amory Chesterton was arrested on suspicion of possession of imitation firearm with intent to cause fear.

Police press relations officer Takara Bain said Chesterton is currently on police bail while the investigation progresses.

There was clear reference in the second article that the two news stories were related and the arrest was the result of a report stemming from the first news story.
