Locals staged a protest outside Providenciales Supreme Court against the Special Investigation and Prosecution Team (SIPT) corruption trial and government’s continued funding of the case.
The demonstration outside the Supreme Court building on Leeward Highway on Tuesday March 2nd, followed an announcement the announcement the previous day that there will be a new trial for former premier Michael Misick, three of his former government ministers and three local lawyers.
One of the protestors, Althea Ewing-Williams said, “I came out here for two reasons, in support of Michael Misick and the other defendants because we all know that they will never get a fair trial. I am also here to send a message to Andrew Mitchell (Lead prosecutor) and the SIPT team to tell them that they do not enjoy the support of the public for a retrial.
Another protester Chrystal “Tess” Charles told The SUN, Turks and Caicos Islanders are no longer interested in this trial and are calling for an end of the SIPT case.
